Travels of a Wandering Sage is a programmatic double variation following the travels of a sage. Each variation depicts a different scene that the sage is traveling through, starting with a dark forest, moving to a scene through fields, along a river that becomes windy and treacherous, into a battlefield, and looking out on the mountain peaks before riding off back through more fields. This performance is by the Melbourne Saxophone Ensemble, 2017.
